Suzanne Foster Porter, Principal and Owner

Suzanne Foster Porter

Suzanne leads the energy efficiency research and policy practice at Kannah Consulting. She applies her background in physics and social science research to lead multidisciplinary research teams to develop new test protocols and appliance standards, uncover new opportunities for energy-saving technologies, and compellingly share these ideas with clients and stakeholders. She founded Kannah in 2015 after working for other prominent consulting agencies for more than 15 years.

Suzanne descends from a line of Colorado farming and ranching pioneers who settled the state in the late 1800s. She applies that same pioneering spirit to her work, forging new paths toward a sustainable energy future.

Current and past clients include: The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), The US Department of Energy (USDOE), Laurence Berkeley National Labs (LBNL), Pacific Gas and Electric Company (PG&E), San Diego Gas and Electric Company (SDG&E), Natural Resource Canada (NRCan), Northwest Energy Efficiency Alliance (NEEA), The New York State Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA), The California Energy Commission (CEC), and The Electric Power Research Institute (EPRI).

In her free time, Suzanne enjoys outdoor activities including skiing, hiking, road biking and camping. She loves gardening and cooking healthy food for herself and her family.  In an effort to maintain balance and personal sustainability, she also practices the Chinese art of Tai Chi.
